Same day delivery is not enough for you, how about the same hour, ey? Sky is the limit! MightyFly is a hybrid-electric autonomous air cargo plane. It lifts up and down like a drone and flies like a plane.
See How it Works
Looks small right, well that is the small one. The actual plane/drone It is actually the size of a medium car. It can go as fast as 150mph (251km/h) and carry 100lbs (45kg) for 600 miles (965km). See for yourself:
The company was founded by two people. Manal Habib (CEO) and Scott Parker (CTO). There is a real passion for this product, since she was little, Minal always wanted to transform lives for the better using the power of flight. Now she has co-founded a company as the only (so far) female-led drone manufacturing company.
MightyFly has recently received a $5.1m in funding from various investors such as: Global Founders Capital, Halogen Ventures, At One Ventures, 500 Startups and Graph Ventures. This investment will help with scaling the fleet, hiring more people and build the infrastructure to support global network of hubs.
Who Is It for?
The company has branded itself as a supply chain and logistics service for gas and oil, mining, spare parts, medical industries. MightyFly can do multiple drop-offs in one trip and being long-range which is quite impressive. The plans are that these autonomous air cargo planes will be able to deliver 500lbs in the near future.
Could this be used for large-scale faster delivery? Possibly. But you have to keep in mind that this is a mid-sized car that is flying above our heads. Unless it can parachute 🪂 products by dropping them from the plane, quite a big landing space would be required. Might be something to think about, maybe the small drone that is in the first video could be used commercially.
