1 Twitter might acquire Clubhouse for $4B
The clubhouse was launched early last year and the value of the company is already $4B based on a Bloomberg article. This audio-based social network has been growing like crazy and it seems like this is only the beginning. For those that are new to this - anyone can tune in to hear interviews or panel discussions, you raise a hand and can ask questions. Basically the next generation of radio but more interactive and free. Anyone can create a channel and have their own station.
2 Telegram plans to go public
Telegram expects an appraisal of $35-$50B and may issue 10-25% of shares to the market. The company has begun preparations to go public and it will likely happen in 2023. Earlier Telegram reached 500 million monthly users and they plan to have 1.3b to 1.5 billion users by the time company goes public. Value is based on how WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook in 2014 - it paid 42$ for each user.
3 Microsoft is buying Nuance Communications
An impressive deal worth $19.7B ($16B deal, 19.7B including debt), Nuance Communications provides speech recognition and artificial intelligence. It is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts. Microsoft is paying 56$ per share for about a 23% premium over Nuance's closing price on Friday. Nuance Communications technology will be used in Microsoft's health care cloud products.
