Tidbyt is a 64 by a 32-pixel retro display that is connected through their app. The design looks great and it would fit well in any room.
So what can you display on this cool device? Statistical: stocks, crypto, weather, calendar, Twitter, youtube followers. Artistic: pictures, custom messages, current Spotify song.

You can cycle through multiple apps in rotation so they change after 5, 10, or 15 seconds. Let’s not forget about alarms and schedules.

The price is $159 pre-sale and $199 retail. You can get it now on Kickstarter for the retail price. (Might be already sold out).
You can write your own code and push it to Tidbyt API. Maybe figure out how to play snake, Tetris, or even space invaders on it through your phone, could be possible (would it though?). Your friends and guests would definitely try it out.

The display can go display go ultra-dim so it will not affect your sleep quality. There are three brightness settings: auto (depending on the time of day), adjustable, and night mode.
Tidbyt has a plan to launch a platform where any developer (or non-developer) can upload their apps so that others can use them. For inspiration and knowledge, you can check out how the pixel art Bitcoin tracker was developed here. They also have a community portal where users can submit their ideas and discuss the product itself.

The downside is that there is no battery built-in. So you either have to keep it at home plugged in or you can attach a rechargeable battery pack, that is if you want to place it in a spot where there is no power outlet or even take it outside (not sure for what reason).
